I must admit that I have never felt the need to create a bucket list. But after much thought and prayer, I have decided to take the plunge and jot some things down. Call these things a bucket list, the desires of my heart or just stars on a list... these are things I dream of :) Now, none of these must done in any specific order. But all will at least be attempted in their due time and lovely enjoyment. I will spare you the long list and just move on to sharing a few stars I got to cross off my list this past week.
#1, Backpacking #2, A Big Sur Adventure, #3 Sikes Hot Springs!
This my friends was 3 birds in 1 incredible Backpacking Adventure. The bonus was it was with some pretty amazing company as well:)
3 nights, 4 days of long challenging hikes, exciting discoveries and adventures. Minus the minor detail of forgetting to pack our water purifier.... it was practically perfect in every way. Forgetting the purifier only allowed us the opportunity to meet other people while asking to borrow theirs. I'm always pleasantly surprised how willing and happy others are to help those in need. Especially recognizing just how important clean water is and under our unexpectedly warm conditions.
Getting to vacate my everyday bussle and reside on top of a mountain, beside sweet streams and underneath a beautiful blanket of stars is welcomed between busy and very trying seasons. I had no idea how much my soul needed that break until I was there, sitting on a log journaling and being distracted by the sun casting shadows on the trees and birds consistent melodies.
"What Relief!" is what I exclaimed. Luckily the girls were still asleep in the tent while my brief exclamation that I hadn't intended to be proclaimed aloud interrupted the silence:)
So, we hiked, we talked, we journaled. We even explored a beautiful natural hot spring adventure in which we took in each moment of soaking in after our very long trek in order to find it :)
Each day was full, and I can't say much of it was easy. I convinced my fellow backpackers that Big Sur should have been named 'Big Senorita' due to its distinct characteristics being so similar to that of a woman.. a woman of great character ;)
She doesn't make it easy for you to get so close to her, in fact you work very hard to get to know her well, and her conditions are always very unpredictable, challenging to say the least. But in the middle and the end, she is so worth it!
She not only allows you the privilege of discovering her, she gives you the opportunity to get to know yourself more. She stretches you in challenge, revealing your strength. Inspires you with the beauty of her heart, the secret places no one else knows... and before you know it... you feel blessed, grateful... and best of all, loved.
Here's to more stars off my list that only reveal God's favorable and infinite love. Thank for the memories ladies!
